Description:
Region: 備州 (Bishū)
Kiln: Bishū Seibun 備州誠文
Potter: 誠文 (Seibun)
This vintage artisan-made Japanese bonsai pot showcases an elegant oval form, distinguished by the finely crafted details that speak to the potter's expertise. The unglazed surface reveals a subtle, earthy tone, perfectly capturing the "shibui" aesthetic of understated beauty. The walls of the pot feature a slightly flared design, with a gently rounded lip that adds a sense of refinement.
The pot rests on recessed cut block feet that provide excellent stability, with smooth, incised lines to emphasize the strength and precision of the craftsmanship. The unnoticeable internal rim adds to the overall sleek and functional design, while the low basal band gracefully leads the eye towards the base, enhancing the balanced feel of the piece.
The unglazed finish, combined with the clay's natural texture, has developed an exquisite patina over the decades, bringing out the groggy nature of the clay. This pot is a true example of the harmonious blend of form and function, with a design that highlights the subtle, quiet beauty prized in Japanese bonsai culture.
The wiring holes are discreetly placed, offering practical utility without disturbing the elegant aesthetic.
