Description / 説明:
A refined, artisan-made Tokoname bonsai pot (常滑焼締め鉢), beautifully proportioned in a shallow oval form 楕円鉢. The rim has a gentle outward flare with a soft rounded lip, giving the silhouette a calm elegance while still feeling powerful and stable. The clay presents a warm brown kiln tone with a fine, subtle grain—classic 焼締め (yakishime)—and a pleasing natural patina (古味) developed over time.
The pot is raised on neatly executed incised feet (彫り足 / 切り込み足), cleanly cut into the underside to create a crisp lift and a balanced, grounded stance without interrupting the smooth line of the body. Inside, the planting area is smoothly finished with excellent practical detailing. A strong drainage layout is present with multiple large drainage holes 水抜き穴 plus small wiring holes 針金穴, ideal for secure tie-down and confident root work. The base is finished with the maker’s hand-scratched 爪描き銘 and accompanying mark, adding strong collector appeal.
