Description
A vintage, artisan-made Japanese bonsai pot (日本盆栽鉢) of rectangular form, produced in Seto, one of Japan’s most respected ceramic regions. The pot features a calm blue-grey glaze (青灰釉) with soft variation and fine surface texture, typical of quality Seto ware. The glaze sits comfortably over a warm, sandy stoneware clay body (陶土), visible on the interior and base, giving the piece a natural and understated presence.
The rim is clean and restrained with a modest lip (口縁), contributing to a strong sense of balance and stability. The walls are straight and evenly proportioned, leading to well-formed cut feet (切足), which provide elevation without disturbing the overall harmony. The interior is unglazed, showing the natural clay surface, while the lower profile and proportions create a quiet, dignified silhouette suitable for mature trees.
The base is carefully finished and functional, fitted with a central drainage hole (水抜き穴) and multiple wiring holes (針金穴), all thoughtfully placed for practical bonsai use. Over the decades, the pot has developed a gentle patina (経年変化), adding depth and character without excessive wear.
On the underside, the pot bears the impressed square kiln seal (角印) reading 「春松」, together with the characteristic vertically incised signature (刻銘) of Harumatsu Rokumisai. This combination is consistent with documented examples from the Harumatsu lineage and supports attribution to the third generation.

Condition:
Good overall condition for a vintage piece. There is a small, old repair to the top rim (口縁) at one corner, where a minor chip has been stabilised. The repair is discreet and does not affect the pot's structural integrity or intended use. The surrounding glaze shows natural age-related wear consistent with long-term use. The price has been reduced accordingly to reflect this condition.
