Description:
A refined Japanese bonsai pot by IKKO 一洸 (Watanabe Kazuhiro 渡邉一弘), produced in Tokoname and finished in a deep iron-brown yakishime clay. The form is a well-balanced rectangular shape with softly rounded corners (角丸長方), giving the pot a calm and dignified presence suitable for both conifer and deciduous compositions.
The rim is broad and clean, with a clearly defined stepped inner rim (内縁・段縁) that frames the planting area and enhances visual balance (均整). The body shows a gentle outward curve, providing good soil volume while maintaining a low, grounded profile. The unglazed surface reveals a fine clay texture and natural variation from firing, with subtle interior toning that has developed into a pleasing keshiki 景色 over time.
The pot is supported by four sculpted feet with delicate scroll-style carving (唐草風の彫り足), lifting the container elegantly from the bench and adding a traditional decorative element. The base is neatly finished and carries Ikko’s impressed square seal, confirming the attribution.
Two well-proportioned drainage holes (排水穴 / 水抜き穴) also function effectively as wiring holes (針金穴), making the pot both practical and display-ready.
