Description:
A refined handmade Japanese bonsai pot by second-generation IKKO(二代目 一洸), Watanabe Kazuhiro(渡邉一弘, from Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture(常滑市). This piece is made in a clean rectangular form, choho-bachi(長方鉢), with a soft, flared wall and a pronounced, rounded lip, kuchibuchi(口縁), giving the pot a calm, balanced, and elegant presence.
The exterior is finished in a refined light blue Kinyo glaze, tansho kinyo-yu(淡青均窯釉). This soft bluish glaze has a gentle opalescent quality, with subtle grey-blue and pale celadon-like tones across the surface. Small natural speckles and delicate tonal variations in the glaze add depth and handmade character, while the quiet colour allows the form of the pot to remain the main feature.
The body has a slightly outward-flaring profile with clean straight sides, while the lower section is neatly cut to form simple integrated feet, kiri-ashi(切足). The unglazed reddish-brown clay visible inside the pot and on the foot contact areas creates an attractive contrast with the soft blue exterior glaze. The interior is practical and well made, with two drainage holes, mizunuki-ana(水抜き穴), suitable for bonsai use.
The underside shows a neat recessed base, exposed clay foot pads, and the impressed IKKO kiln mark, confirming the maker. A tasteful and highly usable Tokoname bonsai pot, ideal for shohin or small bonsai, especially trees that suit a quiet, cool-toned glazed container.
