A superior unglazed oval in a soft mokko design, by the great Gyouzan of Tokoname.

This large, Mokko oval-quince-style, unglazed, rare, hand-custom-made piece features a raised lip & basal banding detail, stepped feet, and recessed panels on the front and back. It is made from one of Nakanos' special mixed formulas of clays; The lip is also finished with a refined raised border, complementing the overall 'shibui' design. 
Over time, a beautiful patina has developed.

Widely recognised as the world's leading artist for unglazed wares, Nakano Yukizyou is the founder and 1st generation artist of Tokoname's Gyouzan kiln.

Gyouzan - Yukizyou Nakano 
Generally considered the best living Japanese potter for unglazed pots, Yukizyou Nakano, and his son-in-law, Yuuji Nakano, of the Gyouzan kiln, 
They also produce some superb glazed pieces.
Yukizyou Nakano was born in 1940. He is referred to in Japan as 'Nakano 'Arukisan', or Nakano 'row three'.
He is a true master of his craft, and his pots display superb detail and refinement in their design and finish. 
Drainage holes are often quirky shapes and arranged in patterns, and the undersides of the pots often show great attention to detail.
