Description:
This striking rectangular bonsai pot is crafted by Seibun (誠文), a renowned potter from the Tokoname region. The pot features a refined unglazed finish, allowing the natural texture and characteristics of the clay to stand out. Its design is minimal yet detailed, with a basal band near the base, providing a subtle decorative touch. The pot also has an upper band with an inner ring, adding visual depth and balance to the form.
The feet of the pot are cut, ensuring stability while adding an elegant touch to the overall structure. Despite its simple elegance, this pot’s construction highlights Seibun’s skilled craftsmanship, with every element thoughtfully designed to enhance its functionality and aesthetic appeal.
A small, nearly unnoticeable chip can be found on the inner band, but it does not detract from the pot’s overall beauty or integrity. This minor imperfection is common in antique or vintage pieces and adds to its character.
Seibun’s pots are known for their timeless design, with clean lines, subtle curves, and perfect balance. Originating from Tokoname (常滑市), a renowned center of Japanese pottery, Seibun’s work adheres to traditional craftsmanship, particularly with unglazed pots that develop a rich patina over time. His signature mark (誠文) and the Tokoname seal on the base confirm its authenticity and artistic value.
The natural greyish hue of the clay complements the minimalist design, making it an ideal pot for displaying bonsai with architectural or clean-lined forms.
