Product Details:

Region: Tokoname 常滑市
Kiln: Izumi ya
Potter: SENGO "nickname" also Zenigo real name (Matsushita Masuo)

This rectangular bonsai pot is a finely crafted piece from the Izumi-ya kiln, attributed to the potter Sengo, an artisan known for his adherence to classical Japanese ceramic aesthetics. The pot is formed from a high-quality, unglazed clay body in a warm, earthy brown tone. Its subtly textured surface reflects a restrained sensibility rooted in traditional Japanese design, aligning with the principles of wabi-sabi, which emphasise simplicity, imperfection, and natural beauty. It's impossible not to see that it has developed an amazing patina over the years.

The form is defined by gently outward-tapering walls, a softly rounded lip, and four understated feet that provide structural elevation for proper drainage and aeration. A subtle internal rim adds both visual refinement and functional support, helping to secure soil and plant material in place..

External dimensions: 18.7 x 14.5 x 4.6cm

Stamped with his personal seal.

Condition: Excellent! Of note is a minor internal chip along the rim, visible only upon close inspection from the interior and imperceptible from the exterior. This inconspicuous flaw does not detract from the aesthetic or functional integrity of the piece and is consistent with the handmade nature of traditional kiln work
