This rectangular bonsai pot is a finely crafted piece from the Izumi-ya kiln, attributed to the potter Sengo, an artisan known for his adherence to classical Japanese ceramic aesthetics. The pot is formed from a high-quality, unglazed clay body in a warm, earthy brown tone. Its subtly textured surface reflects a restrained sensibility rooted in traditional Japanese design, aligning with the principles of wabi-sabi, which emphasise simplicity, imperfection, and natural beauty.
