Description
A vintage, artisan-crafted Japanese bonsai pot → 和製盆栽鉢, formed in a refined oval shape → 楕円形, displaying the characteristic precision and subtlety associated with the work of Syu-Zan 舟山. The pot features a gently stepped internal rim → 段付きの内縁, creating a sense of quiet depth and structural elegance.
The clay surface shows a beautiful natural patina → 経年による風合い, enhanced by its warm, earthy brown tone. The granular texture of the groggy clay → 砂気のある土 gives the pot a dignified, organic presence. Along the lower perimeter, a cleanly executed basal band → 下部の帯状装飾 provides visual grounding and balance.
The feet are subtly incised → 切り込み足, contributing to stability while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic. Overall, the form expresses a harmonious balance (調和と安定感) between simplicity and strength—a hallmark of Syu-Zan’s work.
On the underside, the impressed seal (印刻) of 舟山 is crisp and clear.
The pot includes well-placed drainage holes → 水抜き穴 and wiring holes → 針金穴, suitable for stable planting and long-term bonsai cultivation.
