An outstanding example of early 20th-century Tokoname ware (常滑焼), this antique bonsai pot was handmade by Watanabe Keizō (渡辺慶三), a pioneering potter during the Taisho era (大正時代).
Crafted from high-quality shudei (紫泥 / unglazed purple clay), this piece showcases a formal hexagonal design (六角形) with a traditional bag-style lip (袋縁 / fukuro-buchi). The six recessed feet (くり足 / kuri-ashi) are both functional and elegant, adorned with subtle carving for visual interest.
A minor bump from the original firing process can be seen on one corner, which adds unique character. The surface features a soft, aged patina (古艶 / furutsuya) consistent with over 100 years of careful use.
On the underside, the pot is clearly signed (刻印あり) with the impressed seal 「渡辺製陶」 (Watanabe Seitō), verifying its authenticity.
