Product Details:

Kiln: Hattori kiln

Handmade Japanese bonsai pot, rectangular, glazed, finished in a soft light cream glaze (淡い生成り釉).
This vintage Tokoname bonsai pot by Hattori presents a crisp rectangular form with cut, slightly flared corners (張り角), giving the pot quiet strength and visual stability. The walls rise cleanly with a gentle inward taper, and the rim is neatly finished with a shallow internal lip (内縁), providing structure while keeping the overall profile refined and balanced.
The pot stands on integrated cut feet (切足一体成形). The feet appear visually recessed due to the glaze stopping cleanly above them, leaving the Tokoname clay exposed rather than because of any applied band or stepped construction. This contrast between glazed body and unglazed feet clearly defines the base and highlights the precision of the cutting work.
The glaze surface has aged beautifully, remaining even and calm with subtle depth, while the exposed clay shows the fine texture of Tokoname clay (常滑土). The interior displays natural patina consistent with age and careful use, contributing to the pot’s understated wabi-sabi character (侘寂).
Two well-positioned drainage holes and corresponding wiring holes (排水穴・針金穴) provide excellent functionality for practical bonsai cultivation. The base bears the impressed Hattori kiln mark 「服部」, confirming its Tokoname origin.
