A refined, artisan-made Japanese bonsai pot 日本盆栽鉢 crafted by the 4th-generation Yamafusa 山房. The pot features an elegant oval silhouette 楕円形 with a beautifully executed deep blue ruri-yū 瑠璃釉 glaze, known for its rich, mirror-like depth and luxurious tone. The glaze surface is smooth and luminous, enhancing the pot’s sense of refinement and visual weight.
The form displays a softly recessed upper rim 口縁 with gentle inward curvature, contributing to a balanced and composed profile. The feet are subtly stepped 段足 and cleanly carved, lifting the pot with stability and traditional Yamafusa precision.
On the unglazed underside, the high-quality Tokoname clay 常滑土 is visible, showing a warm, sandy texture typical of the kiln. The pot bears the impressed signature 山房銘 of YAMAFUSA, confirming its authenticity. Functional craftsmanship is further evidenced by the well-placed drainage and wiring holes 水抜き穴・針金穴, arranged in a four-point auxiliary pattern around the main drainage openings—ideal for secure anchoring and proper aeration.
