A Superb artisan pot made by Nakano Yukizyou (Gyouzan) from Tokoname, medium size oval bag-style design, unglazed, Japanese Bonsai Pot, it features a lovely patina, basal band, slightly recessed round cut feet,  with raised lip detail complementing the overall ' Shibui (渋い) ' design.

This is a production (mould-made) hand-finished pot, which is reflected in the price; if it were hand-signed in this size, it would be three to four times higher.

This pot has been stamped with his personal seal.

Master Nakano Yukizyou is widely recognised as the world's leading artist for unglazed wares. He is the founder and first-generation artist of Tokoname's Gyouzan kiln.

Condition: Excellent condition, A light application of oil reveals the character of the clay and a beautiful patina that is beginning to form.

Gyouzan - Yukizyou Nakano

Generally considered the best living Japanese potter for unglazed pots, Yukizyou Nakano, and his son-in-law, Yuuji Nakano, of the Gyouzan kiln,

They also produce some superb glazed pieces.

Yukizyou Nakano was born in 1940. He is referred to in Japan as 'Nakano 'Arukisan', or Nakano 'row three'.

He is a true master of his craft, and his pots display superb detail and refinement in their design and finish.

Drainage holes are often quirky in shape and arranged in patterns, and the undersides of the pots are finished with great attention to detail.
